Stacey Agin Murray, owner of Organized Artistry LLC in Fair Lawn, is sharing her tips on transforming "mess" into "masterpiece" in the brand-new Organize magazine (organizemag.com).

"Organizing on a Shoestring," an ongoing column, will offer readers what Murray refers to as "champagne ideas on a water-with-lemon budget." Each column will offer free and low-cost solutions for a particular organizing problem as well as more expensive ideas.

The July/August premiere of the bimonthly publication launched at Borders and Barnes & Noble bookstores on June 26.

"Organizing on a budget doesn't have to be a challenge," Murray says. "With time, resourcefulness and a good amount of elbow grease, you can organize your home and your life without emptying your piggy bank."

Here are two of her ideas for organizing on a shoestring. Find more at www.organizedartistry.com.

• Repurpose an item that is on its way to the recycle bin. For example, a shoe box can be repurposed to hold hair accessories.

• It's garage sale season -- take advantage of it. You never know when you'll spot drawer dividers, shelf organizers or desk accessories on someone's lawn for pennies on the dollar.
